Motor Speed Measurement based on Kalman Filter

Here at http://motorspeedandkalmanfilter.blogspot.co.uk/ you can find the blog for our Year 2 project, titled 'Motor Speed Measurement based on Kalman Filter'. by Jingwen WANG, Wenyuan XU, Xinzhuo ZHANG and Yibai ZHAO, supervised by Dr. Roberto Ferrero.

This project aims at obtaining the speed of the motor rotates. As the motor's typical speed is not very fast, the measurement will have significant quantisation error and uncertainty. Therefore, Kalman Filter was chosen to combine the measured value and the estimated value calculated from the voltage across the motor.

This project consists of 3 main parts: the wooden framework, the circuit design and the algorithm implementation. After 4 weeks' work, the result is very good.
