Here at http://gp1visitorcounter.blogspot.co.uk you will find the blog for our year 2 project blog titled "Bidirectional Visitor Counter using ARM Microcontroller ", by Haiming Zhang, Anjie Zhao, Bowen Wang, Huibo dai and Ruoshu Xu, supervised by Dr Ali Al-Ataby.
This project is a counter system including basically three parts. The first one is the detector, Infrared emitter-receiver pair and laser are used separately to realize the function of detecting people. The second part is the controller circuit that is to convert the analogy voltage to digital signal. The key component is the IC comparator. Finally, the last part is the ARM microprocessor for which we programmed codes to control and display the visitor number.
We have some sustainable regards on our project, for instance, we make it dormant when there is no one in or out to achieve power efficiency. For application, our project can be utilized as a detecting device in buildings and parks the record visitor flow rate.
