Here at: http://group100project.blogspot.co.uk/ you will find the blog for our year2 project blog titled: "seeing at the nanometre scale", by Group 100: YUE LENG and HUADONG LIU, supervised by Dr Harm
The project is seeing at the nanometre scale with Atomic force microscope (AFM), use the principle of interaction force between atoms and a tip to analysis the surface of a sample. The technology could be used to understanding of the fine structure of biological macromolecules and their function, also some other domains. The lab need a atomic force microscope, a computer screen, also a tip and a sample. Actually, in this experiment, a diamond tip was used, and a piece gold sheet as the sample to measure scales of atoms.
